Field trials with orphan legumes have been successfully closed !!!

Italy, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Greece and France: an incredible synergic effort to test the BENEFIT-Med target species under different climatic conditions around the Mediterranean Area. UNIPV TEAM with the support of INNOVA-TECH agronomists: field trials performed in North-Western Italy. Orphan legumes did very well and showed significant benefits in response to seed priming treatments. UFAS1: […]
SETTING ORPHAN LEGUMES FOR “ON-FARM” SEED PRIMING

The young researchers of the UNIPV BENEFIT-Med Team design protocols for sustainable “on-farm” seed priming. These protocols can be easily used by farmers. Open Days at pilot sites will be essential to promote orphan legumes adoption by farmers. Training will help this transition.
COULD SEED PRIMING HELP ORPHAN LEGUMES AGAINST CLIMATE-CHANGE NEGATIVE IMPACTS? FOLLOW OUR UPDATES !!!

Greenhouse stress tests are currently in progress in Italy (University of Pavia) and Greece (Agricultural University of Athens). We expect to gather additional knowledge that will help us to better understand the dynamics of the orphan legumes performace as “climate-ready crops”.
ASSESSING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE BENEFIT-Med ORPHAN LEGUMES UNDER OPTIMAL CONDITIONS: THE GREENHOUSE TRIAL AT INRAE, FRANCE.

Orphan legumes performance under controlled, physiological conditions. Plants were in good health, and they produced a strong vegetative mass. The results of the ongoing analyses of physiological and metabolic paramethers will help disclosing the distinctive features of the different accessions tested in the project.
ORPHAN LEGUMES UNDER THE LENS OF BENEFIT-Med RESEARCHERS … PROMISING RESULTS FROM TUNISIA

Researchers of the University of Sfax are processing the data collected from the field trial they carried out with orphan legumes treated with the seed priming protocols. Agronomic and physiological parameters being analysed by the BENEFIT-Med Team. A huge effort to compare the agronomic performance of orphan legumes grown at different pilot sites across the […]
